STAFFORDSHIRE POLICE OPEN DAY.

We learnt something at the Staffordshire Police Open Day — we need to but Freddie some ear defenders and carry them with us all the time, along with his toilet trainer seat (but not in the same bag, obviously).

It was an incredibly noisy event. The din of a dozen or more emergency vehicles all blaring their sirens and horns at once, thanks to enthusiastic members of the public, was almost unbearable. Freddie clamped his hands over his ears and looked thoroughly disgruntled.

Big Sister leant Freddie her headphones and tried playing him some music, but that meant she was distressed by the noise herself.

It was stressful for all of us. I can see why sound is sometimes used as a weapon.

Big Sister took advantage of a quiet moment in the coffee shop to get her aching head down -- and be 'loved better' by Freddie.

Still, we had a nice chat with members of the Diversity and Hate Crime Team, and with Staffs Safer Roads. By being ‘cute’ to an almost professional level, Freddie managed to blag not one, but two, reflective discs off the lady running the stall. He also had a close encounter with a beautiful Barn Owl.

Freddie christened the owl 'Bill', after the smallest one in 'Owl Babies'.

And he had an even closer encounter with a police sniffer dog (which I didn’t, unfortunately, catch on camera). Now,

'Just look what a mess you've made of my face, Sis!'
